I never understood why I thought of and asked myself questions. It just didn't seem to have any use, why ask a question that I already knew the answer to? I'm still not sure why I do it but there have been several questions I asked myself a lot over the years. One of my favorites was if I believed in god or a higher power in general. My answer started with yes, then changed to no then to maybe. Now my answer is far more refined and has become a philosophical point I wish to share with you.
Do you believe in god or a higher power?
I believe in possibilities. As in it's possible that there is one god or ten thousand of them. I have a tendency to believe in everything and nothing at the same time, as such it allows me to say my belief is in possibilities. However I believe that god is real for everyone that believes in him. I call it a personal reality, the belief in something that makes it real to that person.
Your belief in something makes it real for you. That's pretty much the gist of it and I could ramble on for a long time on how we defined reality over the years but I won't. To someone that believes in god or allah or any other god, they are as real as their next door neighbors or the clothes they wear. For those that don't believe god is just as fictional as a character from a book. We each define our own reality this way.
"You don't have to believe in what others say to listen to them."
